How do I know that my ice cream is safe? Can COVID-19 be spread through packaged food or beverages?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is currently no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with transmission of COVID-19. Our facilities ensure that quality and food safety standards are consistently met and exceeded, and the health and safety of our customers remains our top priority. All of our products are safe to purchase and consume without concern of contracting COVID-19.

What are you doing to ensure your employees are safe?
The health and safety of our employees remains our top priority and we have numerous initiatives in place to safeguard employee wellbeing during this outbreak. Wells has formed a comprehensive Pandemic Task Force across all functions in the organization, and the team is meeting multiple times each day to implement real-time business decisions daily.

We are strictly following the guidance and recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) and are making organizational changes if necessary, based on the latest guidance.

We are performing health screenings and taking the temperatures of team members at all corporate locations and manufacturing facilities. Additionally, we are actively adjusting plant schedules as needed at our locations and have restricted facility access to critical personnel only. We are significantly expanding our stringent cleaning and sanitation efforts across every location and all Wells’ manufacturing facilities.

Our organization is also embracing social distancing and has deployed our work from home policy for individuals whose jobs allow. We are taking measures to ensure that any employee that is sick, or feeling sick, stays home, and we are giving employees flexible time off accommodations so they can prioritize their health.

Are your employees in facilities being regularly screened for symptoms of coronavirus?
To safeguard the health and wellness of our employees, we are performing health screenings and taking the temperatures of team members at all corporate locations and manufacturing facilities. We are also asking employees to self-evaluate their health and go home, or stay home, if they present symptoms, have a known exposure, or feel ill. We are also providing access to telemedicine services and medical support, as needed, for employees and their families.

Does Wells have plans in place to maintain supply chain integrity and safety?
Wells is committed to ensuring our supply chain partners and customers stay up to date on all our initiatives, policies, and processes in place to navigate this health crisis and maintain supply chain integrity. We are consistently planning and preparing for multiple scenarios and are regularly communicating and working with our partners to ensure minimal disruption is felt amidst this outbreak.

In addition to existing measures, we have taken an abundance of precautions to preserve the health and integrity of our supply chain. We are identifying and collaborating with logistics partners across the United States to support services to our customers should product supply becomes limited. We have developed procurement vendor back up plans for the continuity and redundancy of ingredient and material supply and are working to ensure product can be seamlessly deployed or transported between warehousing facilities in the likelihood a region or county is substantially affected by the outbreak.

What are you doing to keep your facilities clean?
Our facilities ensure that quality and food safety standards are consistently met and exceeded. The Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) we have in place in our facilities help to ensure food safety steps we take exceed the measures recommended by the CDC to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within the workplace. We have increased the frequency of our overall sanitation process within our production areas as well as auxiliary, ‘high touch’ areas such as break rooms and rest rooms. The health of our employees and the safety of our product remain our top priorities
