Ice Cream Capital of the World

Visit the Capital

The Ice Cream Capital of the World, that is. We helped Le Mars, Iowa, earn the title in 1994, after being recognized for more ice cream being made by one manufacturer in one location. We are proud to have made this the sweetest place on Earth, and you’ll see the evidence displayed throughout town. (See if you can find all 50 ice cream cone sculptures!)

Ice Cream Experience

While you’re in our sweet city, make sure to stop by the Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor for one-of-a-kind ice cream treats and a heaping spoonful of fun in the interactive exhibits fun for all ages.

Good thing sampling is encouraged here, because there are over 40 ice cream flavors to choose from. Check out the menu to start dreaming about a classic vanilla shake or the extreme Chocolate Volcano Sundae!

Sweet Summer Fun

Each summer we celebrate the treat that makes Le Mars so unique during Ice Cream Days! Held each June, the festivities offer entertainment, parade, and of course lots and lots of ice cream! In July, the Plymouth County Fair boasts of being the Best 5 Days of Summer and is one of the largest county fairs in the state. A trip to the Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor is just the cherry on top to any hot, Midwest summer day.
